El Nino on the rise

Darker are the nights

Political butterflies are on the loose

Economy will again lose

Media is on the boost

Sick and tired of this political hype

Phony is the term

It is all that I can think of

Fuckin' phonies

Death to the phonies

Currently feeling: angry

Few days ago President Gloria Arroyo stood up in congress to deliver her 9th and "last" SONA. There she stood up proud, tall ( well, not that tall though-literally..lols) and full of arrogance. Her dress was fancy and so as her words- full of rhetorics and shall  I say fancy lies. The cover up was so well versed and well delivered, she even quoted“…Our economic plan centers on putting people first. Higit sa lahat, ang layunin ng ating patakaran ay tulungan ang masisipag na karaniwang Pilipino. New tax revenues were put in place to help pay for better healthcare, more roads, and a strong education system. Housing policies were designed to lift up our poorer citizens so they can live and raise a family with dignity. Ang ating mga puhunan sa agrikultura ay naglalayong kilalanin ang ating mga magsasaka bilang backbone ng ating bansa at bigyan sila ng mga modernong kagamitan to feed our nation and feed their own family.”

Well, for me and for lots of us affected by the crisis especially the sectors mentioned never felt a genuine progress in the economy. Fuel prices swelled like a tsunami, education system still remained rotten-designed to serve capitalist countries that causes brain drain in the country. That she even bragged about our poor OFWs which lots of them were maltreated in other countries. If jobs are available and sufficient for us all then we rather stay in our turf than be slaved by foriegners, what a pain. Agricultural reform has never been materialized, stuggle in the country sides has been advancing for more than 3 decades now calling for a true reform in agriculture. Going back to the lapses in education sector, agriculture has never been given that much attention and it should be because we are an agricultural country and we should materialize on that resource. Big lands as we call them haciendas are owned and being monopolized by politicians and landlords. These landlords are still exercising the feudal system and we can even name leaders who are at the same time landlords theirselves. The laws passed for true agricultural reform has been jeopardized and been killed. Party-list groups who has been fighting for these change has been bullied in congress.

Gloria bragged on her alleged achievements in the country, not even showing the public real state of the nation. Poverty and corruption are so evident, so her statement then was false. She also mentioned that jobs through tourisms were created, my question is- is that sufficient to feed a family and how stable it is? She was silent about the figures of the jobs created since 2004. Well let's credit her with the boom of call center industry in the country which I can say gave jobs to some. But the problem of these industries are not stable, security of tenure is absent, labor unions are even illegalized which I think illegal.

The fact is I did not finish to watch her speech, because I was sickened by the looks of her and her lies were unacceptable. As a New Politics Advocate I cannot take those actions. We already gave her the benefit of the doubt, starting from Hello Garci to Jose Pidal controversies, I believe the Filipino people can't take no more og these kinds of deceits. Most of us say that who will change and who is really the right pick to lead the country? Well, I guess what we do is change the system first and thigs will just follow right through. It's a lot I know, as an old sayings say that if others can why can't we ( im dreaming maybe..it is really a long shot).

But hey!! What's with the applauses and the clappings all about everytime GMA finishes a paragraph? Were they watching an opera?? Sounds like a comedy bar to me. lols (bentoy)

PeoplesWar is a protest band and  comprised of three different people who has different ways of life. Bustie, Don, and Bentoy met and had a jam session together and decided to form a trio, clueless of everything. They started playing songs from The Wuds, Yano and Musikang Bayan and later on decided to compose their own songs. These songs are made of various of influences injected with raw socio-political lyrics.

Then Don had to leave the band for greater aim and goals in life. The band went to hiatus for a while.. Luckily music comrades were there to support the band like Schunt, but he too had to go. A personal friend and officemate of Bentoy- Kim then later joined the band and became the main guitarist. Still a trio, new songs were performed and cover songs were done in every gig. Due to time constraints and Bustie had to leave the country sometime 2008 the band then went on hiatus. Missed a lot of gigs and the production ( Kawani Cultural Orgranization now Musicians for Peace-Cebu Chapter) laid low for a while.

Last June11 this year Musicians for Peace had an activity in the city as a call to "Philippine Independence Day". There the band met and played together again with Schunt, Kim, Bustie and Bentoy.. The feeling of thirst to music, politics and rock and roll was then again quenched. And the last gig was done last July 28 at the Outpost..

Current line up:

Kim- Guitars

Schunt- Guitars, Vox

Bentoy- Bass, Vox

Bustie- Drums
